Healthy Remote Work Koala

How to Start your Fitness Journey the Right Way

Did you ever have big fitness goals but lost your focus somewhere along the way? You’re not alone.

Not only from my latest LinkedIn polls but also from my very personal experience, I know that consistency is the biggest fitness challenge for remote workers.

Working out 3 to 4 times per week sounds easy, but especially in the first weeks it isn’t. The first thing that helps is scheduling your workouts so that they appear as fixed appointments in your calendar.

A second very effective step is setting the bar low. Your minimal standard for the first weeks should be showing up. Going to the gym. Setting up your TRX at the Calisthenics Park. Putting on your running shoes and going for a walk.

If then you still don’t feel like doing anything, that’s fine. Go back home. But what mostly happens is that as soon as the first step is done, you think something like “now that I’m here I can do a few reps or run a few meters”.

If you showed up regularly for a few weeks, then you can fine-tune your workouts.

Not the other way around.

In the video below I explain a little further how you can sustainably kick off your fitness journey.
