Let’s face it, in your busy schedule, finding time to go to the gym is a challenge. But what if there was a way to stay fit without spending hours in the gym?
Bodyweight workouts at home or in the fresh air have helped me and many of the people I’ve worked with to stay consistent. So let me convince you to do more bodyweight workouts at home or outdoors by naming just some of the pros:
You learn to move and use your body
Think of your body as a machine. Bodyweight workouts help you learn how to move it efficiently and effectively. No more relying on fancy equipment to do the work. You’ll build strength, balance, and coordination from the inside out.
You can do them at home and save time
Who has time to drive to the gym, change, and then workout? Bodyweight exercises can be done anywhere, anytime. Whether it’s your living room, hotel room, or even the park, you can squeeze in a quick workout whenever you have a few spare minutes.
You can find nice spots outside, get some sunlight, breathe fresh air
There’s something special about exercising outdoors (yes, also now that it gets cold). Not only do you get a dose of vitamin D from the sun (yes, also when it’s cloudy) but you also breathe in fresh air and get to clear your head. I totally feel how the stress reduction effect of training is doubled outdoors.
You can still mix it up with your gym routine
You don’t have to cancel your gym membership though. Why not using bodyweight workouts as a complement to your regular routine. You could go for two weekly gym, and two home/outdoor sessions. Or use bodyweight workouts as a plan B for those days you can’t make it to the gym (as I always say – everything is better than skipping a workout!)
They stress the muscle differently
No further explanation needed, give it a try and you’ll feel it.
My warm recommendation: Do more bodyweight workouts. Your busy schedule will thank you, and you’ll feel stronger, healthier, and more energized.
